The SGV Knowledge Institute, in collaboration with the SGV Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team, hosted a seminar titled “A closer look at the new PFRS Accounting Standard: PFRS 18, Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements” on 27 January 2026 at the SGV Cebu Training Rooms.The session brought together finance and accounting professionals for an in-depth discussion on the new presentation and disclosure requirements under PFRS 18. SGV Cebu Partner-in-Charge and Assurance Partner Margem A. Tagalog opened the seminar by highlighting that PFRS 18 is more than a regulatory update as it fundamentally reshapes the way the statement of profit or loss is presented and redefines how performance measures are disclosed.The morning session was led by SGV Assurance Partner and Professional Practice Director Dhonabee B. Señeres, who shared insights on the new requirements and categories for classification under PFRS 18. SGV Assurance Growth Areas Leader and SGV Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Leader Aris C. Malantic and SGV FAAS Senior Director Dwayne Justin G. Ignacio led the afternoon session, focused on the enhanced guidance on aggregation and disaggregation, the new requirements for management-defined performance measures and the transition to the new standard.The seminar was spearheaded by Aris who also served as an instructor and resource speaker. The event was organized by FAAS Senior Director Dwayne Justin G. Ignacio, Associate Director Lorene A. Libao, and Administrative Lead Kristine Kaye E. Bacay, with the support of the SGV FAAS team.The seminar underscored SGV’s commitment to equipping finance teams with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate evolving accounting standards with confidence. Beyond the technical aspects of the new standard, SGV shared key considerations for preparers in the following areas: Strategy, Compliance, Processes, Data and Systems, Internal Reporting, Performance Measurement, Investor Relations, and People.Another run of the PFRS 18 seminar sessions will be scheduled at the SGV Makati and Davao offices. SGV & Co. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) on 27 January at the Americana Room, SGV II Building in Makati City to formalize the school’s participation in the SGV Academy program.SGV’s involvement in the agreement with T.I.P. includes providing industry insights to ensure the curriculum is industry-relevant, and offering additional support such as the development of educators, part-time teaching roles for SGV professionals, guest lectures, team teaching, and hands-on workshops.SGV Chairman and Country Managing Partner Rossana A. The SGV Academy provided resource speakers in major regional education summits, bringing together accounting educators and professionals for meaningful knowledge exchange and professional development. These included the Central Visayas Regional Forum and Eastern Visayas Region (EVR) Education Summit organized by the National Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (nACPAE), as well as the Davao Regional Forum and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Mindanao Geographical Area Office (PICA–MGAO), Northern Mindanao Region (NMR), and the Southern Mindanao Region (SMR) Education Summit in the Davao Region.The Central Visayas session, held on 5 December 2025 at Holy Name University, and the Davao Region session, conducted on 16 January 2026 at the University of Mindanao, provided a platform for educators to enhance their understanding of Information Systems and Controls (ISC) auditing as part of the audit of financial statements. The SGV Academy was represented by Technology Risk Partner Allan W. Ocho, together with Technology Risk Associate Director Jervie Sta. Ana and Senior Associate Julio Sedano, who led the sessions and shared their expertise.These engagements are part of SGV Academy’s ISC Retooling Initiative, which aims to strengthen the capabilities of accounting educators in teaching ISC. The initiative aligns with the inclusion of ISC as a new subject in the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants (LECPA) beginning in 2029, and responds to the growing role of technology and systems in financial statement audits.The ISC Retooling Initiative is implemented under the collaborative agreement between the SGV Academy and nACPAE. Following successful runs in Central Visayas and the Davao Region, a third session is scheduled to be held in Central Luzon.The events showcased the strong collaboration between the SGV Academy and nACPAE in advancing ISC education nationwide.
