SGV equips finance professionals on PFRS 18

The SGV Knowledge Institute, in collaboration with the SGV Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team, hosted a series of seminar sessions titled “A closer look at the new PFRS Accounting Standard: PFRS 18, Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements” at the SGV Makati and Clark offices in November and December 2025. The sessions brought together finance and accounting professionals to deepen their understanding of the new presentation and disclosure requirements under PFRS 18.

The seminars covered key topics such as management-defined performance measures, transition requirements, and consequential amendments to other accounting standards. Participants were provided with practical insights and guidance to help them effectively implement the updated standard within their organizations.

The sessions featured SGV Assurance Partners and leaders as resource speakers. The 5 November session at the SGV Makati office featured SGV Assurance Partner and Professional Practice Director Dhonabee B. Señeres and Assurance Partner Cliff Richard B. Narag. The 6 November session, also held at the SGV Makati office, was led by Assurance Partner and Accounting Standards Group Leader Roel E. Lucas, together with Assurance Partners Richie Jackson T. Padilla and Cliff. The 2 December session at the SGV Clark office featured Cliff and SGV Assurance Growth Areas Leader and SGV FAAS Leader Aris C. Malantic. The 9 December session at the SGV Makati office was led by Dhonabee, Cliff and Aris.

The seminar series was spearheaded by Aris who also served as an instructor and resource speaker. The event was organized by FAAS Senior Directors Dwayne Justin G. Ignacio, Sheena Dyan C. Suarez, and Gabrielle Andrea M. Fajardo; Directors Dexter Peter F. Tria and Julius Ivan L. Bautista; Associate Director Lorene A. Libao; and Administrative Lead Kristine Kaye E. Bacay, with the support of the SGV FAAS team.

The seminar underscored SGV’s commitment to equipping finance teams with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate evolving accounting standards with confidence. Beyond the technical aspects of the new standard, SGV shared key considerations for preparers in the following areas: Strategy, Compliance, Processes, Data and Systems, Internal reporting, Performance measurement, Investor Relations, and People.

Another run of the PFRS 18 seminar sessions is scheduled on 27 January 2026 at the SGV Cebu and Davao offices.
