The JGM Cluster hosted a Tax Updates Seminar for its clients on 15 September 2025 at the WSDC Training Rooms, SGV 1 Building in Makati City. The session ran from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and featured a series of technical discussions, complemented by light snacks and social activities to promote learning and interaction.SGV Tax Partner Josenilo G. Mendoza and his team organized the program, which included presentations from key speakers: Danielle Irma Arellano on VAT, Carmela Medallo on Income Tax, Atty. Jan Kriezl Catipay-Ortiz on Withholding Taxes and Other Matters, Atty. Lisette Camille Kawi on VAT on Digital Service Providers, and Atty. Stephanie Nava on Customs Updates.SGV Tax Leader Atty. Jules Riego opened the session with a welcome message and shared insights on current and upcoming tax changes.The seminar provided up-to-date insights on recent tax developments. Engaging Q&A exchanges enriched the discussions, while the program concluded with a social gathering that allowed participants to network with peers and speakers over snacks and refreshments.

SGV International Tax and Transaction Services (ITTS) Associate Director Atty. Gerald Roxas, from Tax Partner Cecille M. Santillan-Visto’s cluster and formerly from Strategy and Transactions (SaT), was a guest speaker on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630’s Panalong Diskarte segment on 14 September 2025 to discuss Financial Literacy 101 and share his inspiring life journey.A former Iskolar ng Bayan, Gerald recounted his experience as a Typhoon Yolanda survivor, when his family lost their business and he had to pause his studies at UP Tacloban. Moving to Manila, he was sponsored by UP alumni and later earned his Accountancy degree. He eventually became both a CPA and a lawyer, placing Top 3 in the 2024 Bar exams. He also worked while pursuing his law degree during the pandemic, proving that perseverance and support can lead to success.Gerald advised young professionals to live simply, avoid credit cards to prevent overspending, and delay purchases to ensure they are well-considered. He emphasized keeping a modest lifestyle even as income grows, focusing on personality and confidence over status symbols. “You gain courage through knowledge and experience,” he said, encouraging the youth to stay patient, embrace learning, and remain open to new perspectives.

Members of the SGV SAVE Council attended ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions’ REimagine event on 5 September 2025, joining sustainability leaders and business decision-makers in a gathering focused on future-proofing organizations through clean energy and responsible leadership. The delegation included SGV Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS) Senior Manager Crystal Aleli R. Cornell, CCaSS Director Judd P. Tablazon and SGV SAVE Council Project Director John Rigor O. Perez.REimagine is a premier platform for organizations seeking to transition to cleaner energy and embed sustainability into long-term strategy. Led by ACEN’s Renewable Energy Solutions group, the program featured insights on how renewable energy adoption, generational leadership, and innovation can shape resilient and future-ready enterprises. Talks by Ayala’s 8th-generation leaders, Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala and Jaime Urquijo, underscored sustainability as a strategic imperative and competitive advantage.The discussions highlighted how renewable energy can reduce carbon emissions, stabilize costs, and shield businesses from energy price volatility. The speakers also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the private sector and sustainability advocates to accelerate the country’s clean energy transition.For the SAVE Council, the event provided meaningful insights that align with SGV’s sustainability priorities and its efforts to support clients in building low-carbon pathways. SGV Risk Consulting Leader Joseph Ian M. Canlas, Technology Consulting Principal Philip B. Casanova and Consulting Senior Manager Mark Anthony Javiero have taken on new leadership roles in professional organizations, further strengthening their contributions to the risk management, internal audit, and cybersecurity professions in the region and the countryJoseph was elected as FY25-26 Vice President 1 of the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (ACIIA) during its annual general meeting held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 8 September 2025. With 20 member affiliates from countries across the Asia-Pacific region, ACIIA is a premier organization dedicated to advancing the internal audit profession in the region. Joseph expressed his deep gratitude to ACIIA members and reaffirmed his commitment to continue his advocacy, service, and support to the organization.Joseph was also reappointed as a member of the global Committee of Research and Education Advisors of the Internal Audit Foundation for FY25-26.Philip was named Chapter President of the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) Philippines. He shared his gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized his vision to work with the chapter’s officers in advancing its mission to strengthen the cybersecurity community in the Philippines. Philip also extended his appreciation to Immediate Past President and SGV Technology Consulting Leader Warren Bituin for his exceptional leadership and strong foundation that will guide the chapter moving forward.Alongside Philip, Mark Anthony Javiero was elected as ISC2 Philippines’ Assistant Treasurer. The conference, themed "One Supply Chain: Breaking Barriers," is SCMAP's main event of the year. SGV & Co. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Sikat Solar Challenge Foundation Inc. (SSCFI) for the Project Sinag program on 5 September at the SGV Makati office.Signing for SGV were SGV and SGV Foundation, Inc. Chairman Wilson P. Tan and SGV Chief Sustainability Officer Clairma T. Mangangey, while SSCFI was represented by President Denardo Cuayo and Vice President Odillo Seth Maddatu.Project Sinag aims to improve the quality of life of residents in off-grid unelectrified communities in 17 barangays in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro. With the fabrication and delivery of eight solar-powered generators in Mansalay in June, the MOA confirms SGV’s continuing commitment to supporting livelihood opportunities, community security and rural development in the project area. SGVF Board of Trustees member and Assurance Partner Christine G. Vallejo, SGVF Executive Director Maria Regina O. Maldonado, and SSCFI Executive Director Catherine Marie Cabrillos were also present at the event.Also in attendance were representatives from the SGV SAVE Council, namely Global Compliance and Reporting Senior Manager Meynard L. The Business Services Group (BSG), Information Technology Services Group (IT) and Partner Support Group (PSG), led by SGV Chief Finance Officer and Business Enablement Services Leader Catherine E. Lopez, held a two-hour townhall meeting on 28 August 2025, attended by all staff and managers.The highlight of the session was the introduction of new Country Managing Partner Rossana A. Fajardo, who shared her vision for the future and presented the Firm’s FY26 business strategy. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving success as the team continues to build on its achievements.The townhall also celebrated the team’s milestones and outlined plans for the year ahead. The event concluded with an open forum where Rossana engaged with team members through a candid Q&A session.The gathering fostered a sense of community and connection, setting a positive tone for BSG IT PSG under Rossana’s leadership.
