The SGV Knowledge Institute conducted a seminar on “Exploring the Gaps Between Tax and Financial Reporting” on 22 and 29 January 2026 at the SGV Development Center, bringing together more than 100 tax, accounting, and finance professionals.
The first session, “Income Taxes (Current and Deferred Income Taxes),” was led by SGV Tax Partner Aaron C. Escartin, who discussed key transactions and recent updates in income taxation. The seminar covered updates to the Tax Code, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issuances, relevant court rulings, and applicable financial reporting standards. The session emphasized the implications of these transactions for both tax compliance and financial reporting.

Participants gained practical insights into compliance considerations and audit-related issues, strengthening their understanding of how tax and financial reporting intersect in professional practice.
The seminar series continued with a session on “Navigating Key Areas in BIR Tax Audits.” The session explored significant transactions and key audit considerations, further bridging tax and financial reporting to support compliance and strengthen professional practice.
An open forum concluded the seminar, giving participants the opportunity to raise questions and seek clarification on the topics discussed.
